Creator,
My loved one has ended earthly life. By that ending, my loved one has wounded me beyond comprehension.
My assumptions, plans, dreams lay strewn along the corridors of my heart.
See my wound.
Hear my pain.
Recognize my inability to find words of explanation.
Invade my sorrow with hope. Amen.


Knower of our sorrows,
You comprehend our bewilderment and pain better than we do.
Nothing we do, or is done to us, catches you by surprise.
No one is ever "lost" to you.
No human is a statistic to you, who sees the sparrow fall.
You saw my loved one slip into eternity's embrace.
Help me remember that my loved one, named by you, is still
Graced by you and even now you are working to bring
Ressurection.
Help me trust that on some distant Easter morning,
You will have the last word. Amen.



Meaning Giver,
You know my longing for this to be "made plain".
You long to be involved in our struggle to create meaning out of chaos.
You never scold us for our persistence in seeking this meaning.
Nudge us closer to meaning, even when it seems concealed and hidden. Amen
